Since April 2020, I have been hosting a successful webinar series supported by CIBJO, The World Jewellery Confederation. Jewellery Industry Voices is organised and co-moderated with my colleague Steve Benson, CIBJO's Director of Communications. We look at issues of interest in the jewellery business from the perspective of industry figures, and host relaxed but focused online discussions.
Our average audience is currently 450 viewers per month, with our largest being 974 viewers (9 July, 2020 - Topic: Sustainability of cultured pearls). Viewers are comprised of global industry leaders and colleagues from New Zealand to Hawaii, and all points in between.
Do you have an interesting topic or angle for a webinar? Check out what we have done so far, and the panellists we have featured. Please feel free to contact me if you have suggestions for future events. Or just register to attend the next one.
We also love to work with corporate sponsors to deliver messaging around a topic. Webinars are the new communication tool, haven't you heard.
In June 2021, as part of the webinar series, we hosted a discussion about supporting diversity in jewellery design.
My blog piece, contributed to the Natural Diamond Council who sponsored the webinar, is below, along with a link to the recording.
From Gem-A's Gems & Jewellery Magazine, Spring 2021
Exactly one year ago today (April 22nd, 2020) we started CIBJO’s Jewellery Industry Voices webinar series.
It was a response to the pandemic, along with many other webinar series that started around the same time. But it was a response in the best traditions of CIBJO under the leadership of Gaetano Cavalieri. It was one of collaboration and coming together at a time of need. It called for industry leaders, 100 of them, to give their time and expertise to join us to entertain and educate our colleagues.
Since then we have delivered 25 webinars, with over 10,000 views and an average of 440 per webinar. We have also received many positive comments about the value and knowledge these events have brought. Comments of thanks during the darkest days of the pandemic, and messages of support and positive energy as we have seen a return to vitality for the gems and jewellery trade. The first series from April to July went out once a week and since September we have been broadcasting once a month with the support of our kind sponsors, Natural Diamond Council, Platinum Guild International, GemCloud, Cultured Pearl Association of America and UNI Diamonds.
My thanks go to all our panellists and sponsors in the past year. Without you, our conversations would not have benefited so many people during the past challenging year.
I was asked by Gem-A’s Gems and Jewellery magazine to contribute my thoughts and learnings taken from hosting these conversations. It was printed in the Spring 2021 issue available online for their members.
Lastly, I would like to give a special thanks to Steve Benson, CIBJO’s Director of Communications with whom I work to prepare, promote and deliver these webinars.
