It all started as the first employee in a startup gem and jewellery trade publication in Hong Kong in late 1992. "I don't know anything about jewellery," I said to my friend suggesting I apply. "Don't worry, you'll learn," she advised.
Almost three decades later, I am still learning and still loving the 3Ps; the people, the product and the places. The wide diversity of people who work in the trade, the places it comes from or moves through, and the product itself, which we have the privilege to fashion into objects of beauty which convey meaning and emotion between humans.
My background is international and eclectic but has always been focused on knowledge, ethics and integrity within the gem and jewellery industry, primarily working with high profile not-for-profit organisations. Since 2002, my senior management experience has focused on business development and brand building, sustainability, leadership, gemmology and education.
Following my most recent roles with GIA and RJC, I maintain a strong network and reputation throughout the trade. Since 2020, one of my current consultancy clients is CIBJO - The World Jewellery Confederation.

With the UK as my base since 2002, my extensive professional network follows my early years in Hong Kong and Asia, and regular trips to industry events since my first trade show in March 1993. Since April 2020 those connections have been maintained and strengthened through running CIBJO's Jewellery Industry Voices webinar series - see www.cibjo.org/webinars for more info.
I also maintain strong relationships and understanding of the US market following gemmological studies in California and leadership roles with GIA.
